What’s that warning?!

Have you ever seen that pesky warning light come up on your dashboard at the most inopportune time without the slightest clue what it means? Well, you are not alone & Apex is here to help!

We have put together a list of all those pesky little lights along with what they mean & how your vehicle is affected mechanically.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that your seatbelt or airbag system is not functioning correctly, these lights appear yellow or red in colour. In the case of an accident, these items will not function correctly as they should. Your vehicle should be connected to a vehicle diagnostic scanner to determine the fault and be repaired. It is strongly suggested that you visit a reputable vehicle repair centre to determine the problem and have it corrected as soon as possible.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that the coolant in your engine coolant system is low or that there is a faulty sensor, these lights appear red or blue colour. You should observe your coolant level and if it is low, top it up. If all appears as normal and the problem persists, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized service centre.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that the charging system on the vehicle is not functioning, this light appears red in colour. Generally, this means that your alternator which is responsible for charge is not functioning, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized service centre. This should be addressed quickly so that you don’t find yourself stuck on the side of the road.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that there is no oil pressure in your engine, this light appears red or yellow in colour. If this light appears, turn your vehicle’s engine off immediately as this can damage your engine. Check the oil level of your vehicle and if it is low top it up. If all appears to be normal, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized service centre as soon as possible.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that your power steering fluid is low or that your power steering pump or steering rack is faulty, this light appears red or yellow in colour. If your power steering fluid is low, simply top it up. If the light does not disappear after topping the fluid, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized service centre.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that your ABS system is faulty and may not work if you need to stop your vehicle quickly, this light appears yellow in colour. If this light appears you should have your vehicle inspected by an authorized service centre as soon as possible.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that there is brake pad wear, this light appears yellow in colour. If this light appears you should have your brake pads inspected and replaced by an authorized service centre.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that there is a light bulb failure, this light appears yellow in colour. If this light appears you should have your vehicles light bulbs inspected and the necessary bulbs replaced. This can often be carried out by the vehicle owner or by an authorized service centre.

If you see this light on your instrument cluster, it is warning that there is a tyre on your vehicle with low pressure, this light appears yellow in colour. If this light appears you should have your vehicle’s tyre pressure checked at your local fuel station and reset the warning light. If the light appears again, you should have your tyres inspected for any possible leaks or imperfections at a wheel centre.
